The greater Houston area continues to see huge demand in many fields that offer good salaries and great employment opportunities now and in the future, according to the Gulf Coast Workforce Board.
Thanks in part to an aging population, employers are struggling to fill jobs in education, construction, oil and natural gas extraction and manufacturing, health services, and professional and technical services.
The Gulf Coast Workforce Board is the local board for Workforce Solutions, the public workforce system for this region of Texas, with 50 members representing private sector business, education, organized labor, and community-based organizations.
The board conducted a detailed study and produced a list of high-growth occupations for the 13-county Gulf Coast area. According to the board, some of the occupations expected to grow fast though 2022 – and offer a good salary – include middle school teachers, industrial machinery mechanics, radiology technicians, registered nurses, and computer system analysts. (For the complete list of occupations, see Wrksolutions.com/For-Individuals/Career-Exploration.)
