Lone Star College offers four different Accounting programs, with each filling a different, but vital role for students. \u201cI really believe that we play an important part in preparing our students for the workforce,\u201d said Associate Professor of Accounting Clifton Hill, CPA, CGFM, APA. \u201cMany of my students are also small-business owners who simply wish to gain an understanding of the financial aspects of their business.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">The accounting associate of applied science degree is designed to prepare students to fill entry level accounting positions in industry. The Accounting Assistant\/Bookkeeper Certificate is a fast-track program that provides industry training without the need for admissions testing. The Payroll Assistant Certificate, like the first two, provides industry training without the need for admissions testing. However, this program also includes heavy emphasis on Payroll Accounting. For students who possess a bachelor\u2019s degree and intend to sit for the CPA exam, LSC offers the two-year Advanced Technical Certificate in Accounting.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: 'Open Sans';\">\u201cI generally encourage my students to gain an understanding of the various careers available in the accounting field and then to pursue the tract that best aligns with their interest,\u201d said Hill.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Accounting is said to be the \u201clanguage of business\u201d due to its wide-ranging applications.
