Lone Star College has developed degree programs which provide the skills needed to be successful in any IT career, including the fast-growing cybersecurity field.
In fact, LSC recently received approval to offer a cybersecurity bachelor’s degree program. The bachelor’s degree offers a balance between theoretical and technical competencies associated with the IT profession, with a concentration in cybersecurity.
The Cybersecurity Focus – The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports cybersecurity occupations will grow faster than average between 2016 and 2026. For example, the BLS estimates Information Security Analyst positions are expected to grow as much as 28% by 2026. This growth is expected to add about 28,500 jobs.
Industry Certifications – All LSC IT programs map to critical industry certifications to ensure students have an advantage in the workplace. Often students can test for most of these industry certifications at the end of a course or a certificate or degree program. Through IT training with LSC, students have the opportunity to obtain industry certifications in various areas, including but not limited to:
- Microsoft
- Cisco
- CompTIA
- Linux
Stackable Credentials – As students work their way through the various Information Technology degree programs, they will earn Level I and Level II college certificates.
