Building strong partnerships with local industry allows Lone Star College to provide training that is in step with today\u2019s employers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lone Star College recently launched a collaborative pilot program with Baker Hughes and the Texas Workforce Commission that will pay for LSC students to be trained for a successful career as a Field Service Technician in the energy industry. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are pleased to be working with Baker Hughes and the Texas Workforce Commission to offer this very specialized training,\u201d said Stephen C. Head, Ph.D., LSC chancellor. \u201cLone Star College is globally recognized for its workforce programs and Baker Hughes is a leader in the energy industry.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

The first-of-its-kind program will address the industry\u2019s urgent need for qualified candidates while providing proficient\u00a0students with key skills and a direct path to potential employment after graduation. <\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cChanging workforce dynamics demand that we collaborate within our communities in new ways to ensure a qualified pipeline of potential employees,\u201d said Muzzamil Khider, vice president of HR for Oilfield Services, Baker Hughes. \u201cWe are delighted to be part of this innovative program aimed at giving Lone Star College students a jump-start on a rewarding career.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Transfer Academy for Tomorrow\u2019s Engineers<\/span><\/h4>\n

Lone Star College and The University of Texas at San Antonio have partnered together to offer students a seamless pathway to earn a four-year degree in engineering from UTSA\u2019s College of Engineering.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cStudents now have the opportunity to take University of Texas San Antonio engineering courses at <\/span>
\nLSC-CyFair,\u201d said Dwight L. Smith, III, Ed.D., LSC vice chancellor Academic Success. \u201cThe classes are taught by UTSA faculty with students being co-enrolled at both institutions.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n
