One of the biggest questions regarding college is how to pay for it. Fortunately there is money available to help students, even if you don’t think you qualify.
The first step you need to take is to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form. This can lead the way to receiving financial aid packages that may include more than one type of award including grants, scholarships and work-study programs. This financial help is not a loan and does not have to be paid back.
Don’t be turned off by the horror stories of filling out the FAFSA Form. The reality is it takes around 30 minutes to complete. Be sure to list LSC if you have already enrolled (LSC school code: 011145). LSC will receive the information from your FAFSA form, calculate your aid, and send you an electronic or paper aid offer explaining the amount for which you are eligible. It really is that easy.
The FAFSA aid is available Oct. 1 for the upcoming academic year and must be completed each year. LSC encourages students to apply by April 1 since some aid has limited funds and is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Learn more by visiting LoneStar.edu/PayingForCollege.
