Lone Star College is proud to provide military veterans credit for their service with the Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) program which can shorten the time toward degree completion, saving them money.

“Lone Star College taking into consideration my military experience has allowed me to save on tuition and books as I’m pursuing a college degree,” said Ulises Ossio, military veteran and LSC student. “Getting a few credit hours may not seem like a lot but being able to save on tuition and books makes going to college more affordable.”

PLA provides students the opportunity to demonstrate knowledge and skills acquired through military experience, coursework and training. Students may earn up to 75% of their required coursework through PLA credit. There are also special programs in place to instantly approve LSC credit hours for select medical occupations.

LSC can also help veterans navigate to apply for Veterans Affairs benefits, additional financial aid and more. Learn more by visiting LoneStar.edu/Veterans.
